Regression to the mean explains saturation of geomagnetic storms

Scientists have shown that the apparent saturation of geomagnetic storms can be explained by the statistical phenomenon known as regression to the mean. This finding resolves a long-standing puzzle in space weather research and may improve predictions of storm intensity. The study was published in Nature.
