Iran, Oman, US near Hormuz deal; interests at stake
Iran, Oman, and the United States are reportedly close to reaching an agreement concerning the Strait of Hormuz. The deal would address maritime security and shipping rights in the strategic waterway, through which a large share of global oil passes. An agreement could reduce tensions and stabilize energy markets, but each side holds competing interests regarding sanctions, naval presence, and regional influence.
