Wally Funk, Mercury 13 pioneer and oldest woman in space, dies at 87

Wally Funk, the last surviving member of the Mercury 13 program and the oldest woman to fly to space, passed away at age 87. She became a symbol of perseverance, finally reaching space aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard in 2021 at 82. Her death marks the end of an era for early female spaceflight pioneers.
