Buggy Motherboard Controllers Let Attackers Backdoor Thousands of Servers

Researchers found that vulnerabilities in baseboard management controllers, which are used to remotely manage servers, can be exploited to install persistent backdoors. The flaws affect a large number of enterprise servers and could give attackers deep access to compromised hardware. This matters because BMCs operate below the operating system, making infections extremely difficult to detect or remove.
