Training a JEPA World Model Using Super Mario Bros.

Researchers developed LeMario, a world model based on the Joint Embedding Predictive Architecture (JEPA), trained on gameplay from Super Mario Bros. The model learns to predict future game states from observations, advancing unsupervised representation learning in interactive environments. This work demonstrates how games can serve as testbeds for next-generation AI systems that model world dynamics.
